As the most curious cat in the house, I feel that is my duty to inspect fresh laundry (and groceries, boxes or anybody who walk in smelling like they've been somewhere else.)

Fresh laundry smells good. I like to lay on it. Then it smells even better.
It's part of our duty as a cat to be chief inspector!
I think it's better to inspect the laundry after it comes out of the dryer. Going into the dryer after it could get you into trouble.
