Muddy's triaditis is a fatal illness eventually, but we are still wanting to try and save him. He is not eating at the vet's, not since he went in on Sunday. He has been lethargic though today, he was grouchy which we all take as a good sign since he is that way normally with vets and it shows that he has some energy.
The vet thinks he needs to come home and we do too. Perhaps the familiar environment will induce him to eat again and give him a will to live. Besides, a cage is no fun.
He has to take 4 kinds of pills a day, some twice a day. The biggest challenge will be if he can keep them down and if they help in time. This disease does not always respond and the vet is not making any promises.
My humans are retaking a pill-giving lesson (they took one with me before) at the vet's this afternoon before they bring Muddy home.
Then again, Muddy is so sick that he might never get his appetite back and the pills might not help enough. Saturday will be a big decision day, maybe. We are still holding out hope that we can extend his life 1 - 5 years, but he may be suffering too much for that. We never knew he was in pain. This disease often has no outward symptoms until it is well-progressed though Terry is searching for any clues she might have missed.
Thank you for your comments and thoughts in our behalf. Your support has been wonderful.

Aw, I was hoping for better news. I'm sure Muddy will be happier at home with his family. I'll be purring and praying lots that the medicine works and he gets his appitite back. Big hugs to you all!
We are all praying for Muddy and really hoping that the medicine will work out. I know he will be much happier at home.
Lots of purrs,
- Gussie and his family
We are praying that the medicine works. At least he'll be more comfortable at home. If he is too weak to eat, some chicken baby food might help (no onion). In the meantime, we will purr for him.

We just remembered about another kitty who had triaditis and recovered. We don't know if this will help, but ... http://colleenscorner.com/birthdaybear.html
We hope you feel better in the comfort of your own home Muddy. Positive, happy purrs to you and the whole family.
Hugs, purrs and head rubs.

Aww, Muddy, you will feel much better at home. We are praying very hard that the medicine will work for you. Remember, do what your humans tell you to do and eat your food, 'kay? We love you, buddy!

Oh Muddy, I am sorry that you are so very sick. Please take your medicines, and try to eat and regain your strength. I am purring and purring for you.
I am so very sorry to learn of Muddy's illness. I know all too well how difficult this all is. When my Bear was ill he also stopped eating. The insertion of an e-tube saved his life. The url for Bear's story is here: http://colleenscorner.com/blog/?p=8
Sadly, every situation is different and I do not know if an e-tube is an option for your sweet Muddy. ((hugs))
Also.. there is a wonderful yahoo group called Feline-Assisted-Feeding that is a wonderful resource and support group for cats that have lost their appetite.

Purrs to all of you. I am sure you will do the best for Muddy.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving.
We hope that maybe treats will attract him to eat. Or maybe some poached chickie or somethin?
Our purrs to Muddy an all of you...
Myst here, thank you all for the kind words. Muddy has shown more life since he got home. He was just missing us too much! Thank you so much for your support and for the store of the cat who survived! Our hopes are much better now, too. You are all wonderful -- Myst.
I am so glad that Muddy is back home. How I love this cat with his sweet little face. Muddy will pull thru this.
