Supervising from Above

Somebody needs to supervise and the job has fallen to me. I never fight for cat dominance. I've always been content with dominating the humans around here. They make very good servants. Also, I like being up high while Myst and Dandelion are content with ground level. There's just a good view up here and you can pounce on unsuspecting passersby easily.

The New Machine

The family got some kind of loud thing that bubbles and gives off steam. The other cats in our family prefer to avoid it and walk big circles around it, but I am the most curious of us all and I have been sniffing it and sitting down by it to watch it bubble.

Terry says the air is too dry and even us cats are scratching more due to dry skin. It has been very cold lately. I prefer to stay in the warmer parts of the house even if I have the thickest, biggest coat of anyone who lives here.

Hugs

Ok, I HAPPEN to have very long, very fluffy fur. Not a day goes by, somebody doesn't hold me. Why, if I meow too much, Terry scoops me up and hauls me around the place.

She says I look like a giant fuzzball with tiny short legs sticking out of it. With the dry air, my furr sticks out even more, it seems.

Oh well, a hug now and then is fun, even if I pretend to protest. Hugs are very good things.

Checking Out the BathTub

The problem with sitting in bathtubs is that sometimes they are wet. I do not understand why any fun place like a bathtub would get wet and get ruined like that.

Also, Myst is sometimes hiding behind the shower curtain - I have to be very very careful when I want to sit in a tub.

Bathtubs - Empty Ones, That Is

I LOVE the bathtub. I like to dig in it just to hear my nails clacking in the fiberglass tub. I love the bathroom just to hear myself meow and hear it echo and I love that handsome cat in the mirror who is also trying to get out.

What I don't understand is why anyone would want to play in the sink. I've tried a couple of times and I still don't get why Myst and Dandelion like to dip their paws in the water.

Sleep

Lions need about 22 hours of sleep a day. Dandelions need about 14-16 hours a day. We housecats are much busier, having to manage both humans and households.

Holding Cats

Myst and Dandelion like to be held sometimes. Myst likes only people that know him and Dandelion loves to be held by ANYONE, even children.

Me? I DO NOT like to be held by ANYONE except under one condition. If there is a flying bug on the wall, then I LOVE TO BE HELD so that I can reach it better. That is the ONLY time I like to be held.

Nvertheless, everyone picks me up and cuddles me and says I am a warm teddy bear fluff bunny. Humpf.

The Face No Human Can Resist

Yes, this is the face that humans seem to fall for. He only has to look at them and they fall at his feet to do his will. He is a little cat with a sweet meow.

I, on the other hand, do not do things so calmly. I meow loudly and long in creative ways to get my will done. I have a great vocal range. Really, I like to hear the sound of my voice in an empty bathroom.

Personal Groomers

I think every cat needs a personal grooming service. We do our best to keep ourselves clean and looking nice, but nothing beats a personal groomer to comb, brush and do manicures.

Sometimes I hear Terry mutter, "I'm getting a Ragdoll..." I think she is referring to that fact that ragdoll cats do not get knotted fur. Humpf! Yes, my fur knots easily, but this is why I keep plenty of personal groomers around.

Work and a Massage

After I got done writing in this blog yesterday, I settled down for a nap. Jenny came over to give me a personal massage. Life is good.

Candy Guardian

Somebody has to guard the candy!

Sleeping Places

Okay, so it *is* the kitchen table and this is right where Terry likes to sit. And maybe it is the center of activity in the house. And maybe people like to put food here (Terry is always wiping down the table, so it stays real clean).

BUT, the sun shines in the window real well here and it is long and flat and smooth. In other words, a GREAT place to sleep!

Sleep Murmurs

When I am sound asleep, I still get petted now and then. It feels good and I mumble in my sleep when someone pets me. I do not raise my head or even look if they are quiet about it, I just mumble, making a noise, not even a purr, more like murmur. For some reason, this amuses my pet humans, so I put up with it.

Looking Out of the Blinds

We cats all love windows, Myst and Dandelion will carefully part the blinds here and gently look out.

Not me. I crawl inside, even though I don't fit, and shakily try to walk along the window, then I fall out because there really isn't room for a cat and make huge noises which has everyone running.

Hey it works - I get attention this way.

Fur is Fun

Grooming is one of my favorite pasttimes. I love to feel clean and I have a LOT of fur to keep clean. Sometimes, I even eat fur I find on the carpet. If Terry sees me eating fur, her eyes get large and she jumps up to grab me, but I run so she has to chase me around the house to pull the fur out of my mouth.

I dodge under end tables and beds pretty well. In fact, this is a lot of fun. I am going to find and eat fur off the carpet more often now.

Photoshop Crazy

Terry was playing with Photoshop and did some spooky things to my photo and now this looks like a better picture for Halloween. I guess I can appear pretty spooky. On the other hand, I think I have a pretty pink tongue. With fur this long, my tongue gets a big workout.

Dandelion & the iPod

Dandelion loves his retro iPod (although I think the ear phones are more fun because you can chase and paw at those). It's an antique these days, or so people say. Maybe he will get an iPhone next. We cats stay pretty much in tune with the times.

Terry tried to take my picture this way, but when she puts something on me, I jump up in a panic and run off. I don't want to wear ANYTHING.

Fun with Box Lids

When new boxes appear at our house, they get placed around the floor, even the lids. I love to sit in box lids. They can be too small for me, but I still try to wiggle down into a lid which causes Terry to start laughing. I don't understand why she laughs, all I am doing is just trying to fit.

One morning, I found two box lids of the same size. I did not fit well into one, so I quickly jumped into the other. I did not fit well in that one, so I jumped back into the first. I don't know why everyone was laughing. I think if I jump enough from one lid to the other, one of them will suddenly fit, right?

Myst Gets His Way

Myst can be quite a fluffy cat. I kid him that he looks like Nermal from Garfield and gets his way all the time. He's lucky that way. I have to meow and meow and meow -- hmmm, I like to meow so much I think I would do it anyway.

Myst & His Guest

Myst enjoys company and attention and here he is sitting with a guest who came over just to comb and brush him. Myst knows the best people.

Running Water

Dandelion and Myst have a thing about water in the sink. They watch it, drink it and play in it. I don't understand their attracting for running water. I mean, we get fresh water in our bowls every day.

Running water just kind of bores me. I would rather work with my friend in the glass to find ways to get him out of there (or get me in).

First Thing in the Morning

Okay, I just woke up and I do not quite look like my usually fluffy self, even though I am brushed at least twice a day. I also haven't done my morning grooming yet. Terry says I look like her before she has had a shower. Humpf! I wanted breakfast first.... and the camera caught me.

Speaker of the House

I hear a lot of talk about a "speaker of the house" coming out of the talking box these days. I figure that must be about me. I speak loudly, well and often and I like to sit on speakers. I am pretty famous, apparently.

The Horrors of Closed Doors

If there is one thing I hate more than any other, it is a door that is CLOSED!! This morning, Terry woke up early and shut the bedroom door because Richard was still sleeping. Blasphemous! I meowed loudly outside that door. Terry came and sat with me and petted me, so it was not a total waste. I may meow at that door more often now so I can get more of this treatment.

Exhausting Work

Trying to keep these humans and Myst in line is exhausting work. Why, just this morning, I was walking in a door, when out of NOWHERE, Myst pounces on me!

Of course I ran behind another door and when he got close.... POUNCE!

Working on My Hobby

Yes, this morning I worked on my project - trying to get that handsome cat out of that glass room. He helps me with this as we examine corners and paw at the glass.

Maybe one day, I can get in there, or get him out of there. I think he would be a great friend. Anyone that handsome just HAS to have a great personality.
